Seminar KFKKS 2024: UMPSA Library Leads Sustainable Development Goals Initiative - 19-20 Aug 2024
On August 19 and 20, 2024, the Engineering Library at USM's Engineering Campus hosted the 2024 Seminar on the Special Focus Group for Engineering and Architecture (SKFKKS). The Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMPSA) Library took part in this seminar, with its delegation consisting of four staff members: the Chief Librarian, two Senior Librarians, and a Senior Assistant Librarian. These representatives contributed as both paper presenters and seminar participants
A total of eight papers were presented at this seminar, covering topics under the designated sub-themes, such as library research support services in engineering and architecture, community collaboration networks/Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in engineering and architecture libraries/organizations, technical skills, librarianship and architecture, and artificial intelligence in engineering and architecture libraries.
UMPSA Library contributed a paper titled "Sustainable Development Goals (SDG): Collaboration and Initiatives of UMPSA Library," authored by the Chief Librarian, Ms. Kamariah Gono, with assistance from Senior Librarian, Ms. Nor Ashikin Ahmad. The paper discussed initiatives carried out by the UMPSA Library, as well as collaborations with departments both within and outside UMPSA, in supporting and realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Among the initiatives shared during the presentation were the Preloved Boutique, Give & Sale (PGS) project, Waste4Fine, Jom Sihat activities, green projects, and many more. These projects are ongoing as they continue to benefit the library users and the local community.
This seminar provided an opportunity for presenters to share their experiences related to the projects they had undertaken, thereby enriching the knowledge of other librarians. Additionally, participants had the chance to tour the Engineering Campus Library before the seminar sessions commenced, allowing them to exchange views and explore the available facilities. This indirectly offered inspiration and new ideas that could be applied in their respective institutions. This seminar thus served as an important platform for shared advancement in the fields of librarianship and engineering.
In conclusion, UMPSA Library's participation in the Special Focus Group Seminar on Engineering and Architecture (SKFKKS) has created an invaluable opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experience among librarians and seminar participants. The presentation of papers and highlighted initiatives demonstrated UMPSA Library's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through various ongoing collaborations and projects. This seminar not only enriched the knowledge of participants but also strengthened collaborative networks between institutions, which will continue to support sustainable development in the fields of engineering and architecture.
