The objective of this training is to promote use of Science Direct and Scopus to UMP students, early career researchers and researchers. The trainer Nicholas Pak, Benny Ang and Yu Lang focused on providing 4 training which covered the use of Science Direct and Scopus.
The following topics were covered:
- What’s behind Science Direct
- The Platform
- How to Search
- Impactful Research
- Introducing Scopus
- The Content in Scopus
- Searching Scopus
- Source Browser and Journal Analyser
- UMP’s Research Excellence
It was a very fruitful session, with over 30 questions raised, including article submissions to Elsevier, identifying key topics in Scopus, the difference between both Elsevier databases, on identifying the quality of top percentile journals in Scopus, understanding which journals to choose to publish in, and how to index a journal in Scopus. Hopefully, all participants can explore more about Science Direct and Scopus after attending this training.
