User Education Programme – Literature Search Strategies (15 March 2021)

Literature Search Strategies online class was held on 15 March 2021, from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. The instructor for this class is Puan Affida Binti Abu Bakar, Librarian from the Education & Research Section. All participants in this session were students from the Research Methodology course (KPC1103), including the lecturer Dr. Diyana Binti Kamarudin from Faculty of Industrial Management (FIM). Total number of 12 participants all together joining the Google Meet sessions.

The main objective of the training is to assist students in finding information related to their field of research topic based on 5W1H in the literature search strategies. The participants also learn how to apply search techniques while using online databases in order to improve the precision of their search results.

During this class, participants were shown how to search and access resources from all library platforms such as eFind, off campus access EzProxy, UMP-IR and eColLIB. They can utilize all the services provided by the library along their study journey in UMP. In addition, participants were given hands on basic citing & referencing (APA styles & Mendeley). They have learned basic format to reference sources, to find the necessary information for a citation and how to use Mendeley as reference manager. This class ends with a Q & A session.
